Our History

2004 origin

The Nigerian organization of Reading and Berks County was established due to the sudden death of a Nigerian medical doctor who resided in Reading, PA, in 2004. This sad event brought many Nigerians in the community together. After which, the Nigerian Association of Reading and Berks County (NARBC) was born.

​The association operated unofficially for four years before the organization's grand launch on July 26, 2008, at the then-Sheraton hotel in Reading, PA

Community development purpose

The Nigerian Association of Reading and Berks County (NARBC) mission statement is to promote the social, cultural, economic, and educational development of its members and the community at large, as well as the development of ethically sensitive and responsible persons. It seeks to achieve these goals through sound social and educational programming, cultural programming, and through regulations and policies governing conduct that encourage independence, maturity, and respect for the rights and viewpoints of others.
